Welcome to the Karen Shepherd Fund, an internship program for students who want to work on Democratic campaigns in Utah.
These are critical times and you are in a position to make the critical difference. I know it doesn't feel like that from the outside but getting into politics is getting into the inside. It's learning how the decisions are made that shape all our lives, and it's learning how to become one of those few people who have the power and expertise to determine who will be the leaders in our community and country. I have worked in many, many campaigns, starting, as I am asking you to do, at the bottom with the basics and working up into the positions of strategy and ultimately running for the Utah Senate and for Congress myself. I've won some and lost more but each and every experience informed my future, created a lifelong network of friends and colleagues, and enriched the health of democracy as we know it. Elections are the blood in the body of a democracy and making sure they are competitive provides the oxygen that ensures healthy circulation. Join us in this effort. It will change your life.
